You may be surprised at how effective an email marketing strategy still is!

There was a time not so long ago when email was considered to be the way of the future. But today—with the advent of various social media platforms and advancements in cellphone technology (texting, video calling, etc.)—email has since lost its position as the primary way through which people communicate. What email hasn’t lost, however, is its importance in the business world. In fact, it’s still one of the highest converting channels! That’s why, when it comes to marketing for a business, email marketing is still a fundamental plank on which any good marketing campaign sits.

Although people are inundated with emails and getting emails is not as exciting as it was back in the ‘You’ve Got Mail’ days, if you have a good strategy and are doing a targeted send, you will be reaching people that want to hear from you. There are many ways email can be an even more effective communication method than those that have followed after it so here are some reasons why email marketing is still effective in today’s world:

1. Email Is Great on Mobile Devices

Whether you’re using an iPhone or an Android, it’s likely your phone is equipped with a pretty good email system that may (in some instances) be even more effective and reliable than your phone’s texting software.

In fact, studies from Pew Research found that 52 percent of individuals in the US use a mobile device to access email; and research conducted by Forrester found that 42 percent of Americans open retail messages on their phones, while 17 percent do so on their iPads.

2. Customers and Subscribers Like Being in the Loop

When it comes to keeping customers and subscribers informed about what’s going on in your business, there’s no better way than with an email marketing campaign. It’s quite likely, especially in instances of returning customers, that individuals are looking for you to come to THEM with new things they might be interested in.

Face it, in most cases, your company or brand is not going to make a lasting first impression with the individuals who interact with it; but all it takes is one subtle reminder, one effective email, to get them shopping with you again.

3. People Are on the Lookout for Email Coupons

Exclusive email promotions are great for building email lists, especially since most people are familiar with the fact they can get great discounts by checking an email here and there. Research conducted by Nielsen backs this up, showing that 27 percent of shoppers intentionally give out their email address on the condition that they will receive promotional emails, coupon codes, or anything else that could amount to some kind of discount.

4. Email Marketing Is Cost-Effective

If you’re a small business just starting out, an email marketing campaign may be good to implement because it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to do so (especially when you consider the alternatives). Reaching a vast plurality of people will literally cost you pennies. In fact, Forrest found that 85 percent of US retailers believe email marketing is one of the most effective avenues for acquiring new customers or subscribers, specifically because it’s so easy and cheap to do!

Conclusion

So what’s stopping you? It’s never too late to create and implement an email marketing strategy! And with time and effort, your list—as well as your sales and revenue—will grow and grow.
